The Oasis Variconi has been conceived for a long time as a natural space directed to a specific target (naturalists, botanists, etc.).the local citizens have been almost excluded from the space, using it instead for not entirely lawful activities. The Oasis, despite the current decline, continues to be an important global stop-over site, since the birds' migratory routes are the same from generation to generation. The REBIRTH is the key theme of the project: to work properly it has to be social, cultural, environmental and economic, in order to stop the lawlessness that affects this area.

Nature will be the driving force for the place rebirth. The Oasis has to become a real public space in which people are supposed to be an active part: take back possession of territorial identity (culture), work for protection and safeguard of public space in order to preserve it (environment), consider local products as the main source of income (economy). The territory’s characteristics will be promoted by various activities. The project aims to promote the strong agricultural and natural Oasis vocation, from the coast to the city centre. For thousands of years, different species of birds choose this place to give birth to future generations. We want to take an example from nature and preserve this area for the young generations who will live it!!

The Variconi Oasis will become part of a larger activities network, theese will take place both inside and outside the Oasis itself, and all the events and functions are going to be connected ideally and phisically through different paths. The opening of the Variconi Oasis towards the city and viceversa will be a social, economical and cultural redemption and an environmentally element of influence for all the close areas. In a period decided by the natural rhythm, the Variconi Oasis will come into close contact with Castel Volturno through a new plot of urban green spaces, that will be an important part of the region ecological system. The new roads and green spaces, now wrecks, will form new focal points and corridors. The project aims are connected with a process of anthropogenic green colonisation realised by the potential natural vegetation of the region, there will be a real "urban regeneration".  That scenary is going to be possible only with the adoption of a new urban green plan, that is going to determinate the possible vegetation choices and suggest all the incentives that will define the feasibility.
